Artificial Intelligence Lightning Talks

We're excited to invite you to a special edition of our next AI Lightning Talks from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3 via Teams.

This month, our featured theme is Leadership in Action: Practical AI Use Cases, recognizing University of Iowa leaders who are advancing AI adoption through innovative projects, practical applications, and a commitment to sharing knowledge with the broader campus community.

Our presenters include:

  • Steve Fleagle, Associate Vice President and CIO, Information Technology Services

  • Barry Thomas, Associate Provost for Faculty and Strategic Operations

  • Jill Tomkins, Assistant Dean of Graduate and Professional Programs, Tippie College of Business

  • Ali Yildirim, Chief Marketing Officer, Office of Strategic Communication

  • Cheryl Reardon, Chief Human Resources Officer and Associate Vice President

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the technological landscape, leadership isn’t just about strategy—it’s about action, experimentation, and sharing what we learn. This session will feature short, high‑impact talks by leaders who are putting AI to work in meaningful, measurable, and inspiring ways.

The goals are to:

  • Share knowledge and insights about the latest AI trends, tools, best practices, and practical uses of AI

  • Encourage collaboration and cross-pollination of ideas

  • Inspire innovative applications of AI

Whether you're exploring AI for the first time or leading a project of your own, this event is designed to energize and empower.
