About

The University of Iowa Postdoctoral Association was founded in the Spring of 2011 to act as representatives on behalf of the UI postdoctoral community. We serve the needs of all postdoctoral scholars and fellows throughout the sciences, social sciences, and humanities, and we collaborate with the University of Iowa's departments to provide support and training to our postdoctoral community.

With aproximately 275 postdoctoral scholars and fellows, the UIPDA advocates for constructive changes in the professional and administrative policies that affect the lives of postdocs and their dependents. In addition, the UIPDA sponsors various events to facilitate the social integration and career development of all UI postdocs.

International Postdocs are an important part of our community. Over 50% of all postdoctoral fellows and scholars are international, and the UIPDA strives to be an active part of your journey at the University of Iowa. Please refer to the Graduate College's International Postdoc Resources | Graduate College - The University of Iowa (uiowa.edu) to find important information that will help you transition to your new life at the University of Iowa! Do you have questions about your visa? The International Student and Scholar Services | International Programs (uiowa.edu) is ready to assist you before and after your arrival to Iowa City | The University of Iowa (uiowa.edu)

The UIPDA leadership partners and regularly meets with several departments on campus to support and improve your postdoctoral experience. We also regularly meet with leadership in the Graduate and Professional Student Government and Graduate Student Senate to combine efforts on issues related to our training experiences and our temporary employee status.
