This event, offered online via Teams, will feature several short talks (3-5 minutes) about how faculty, students and staff at the University of Iowa are using artificial intelligence.

The talks serve as a platform for learning and innovation as artificial intelligence rapidly transforms the technological landscape.

• Kirk McNabb, Instructional Designer, Distance & Online Education, on Copilot as Coach: Scaffolding Real-World Performance through AI Practice

• Billie Ruden, Academic & Career Advising Manager, College of Medicine & Office of Student Affair and Curriculum, on Residency Application Guides

• Andrea Anderson, Education & Psychology Librarian, University Libraries, Humanities & Social Sciences Department, on AI and Evidence Synthesis Searching

• Dr. David Supp-Montgomerie, Director of Undergraduate Studies and Associate Professor of Instruction, Communication Studies, on ChatGPT as a DUS Assistant: Planning, Courses and the Monthly Newsletter

• Dev Mishra, IT Project Manager, CIO Office, ITS, on Project Management Assistance with AI

The goals are to: 

• Share knowledge and insights about the latest AI trends, tools, best practices, and practical uses of AI. 

• Encourage collaboration and cross-pollination of ideas across campus. 

• Inspire innovative applications of AI.
