Join us in welcoming Xiao Liu, an Associate Professor at the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology, to the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering Graduate Seminar.
Dr. Liu will present his seminar titled "Statistical Learning and Sequential Designs for Projection-based Reduced-Order Modeling". This talk addresses the challenge of constructing parametric reduced-order models that remain accurate as system behavior varies across a parameter space. Dr. Liu will introduce a Projected Gaussian Process approach for adapting Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) bases and quantifying uncertainty in the predicted subspaces. The talk will also present a sequential design method for selecting new simulation parameters to reduce that uncertainty efficiently, followed by numerical examples demonstrating the methods.
